We took down 3 old outbuildings here on the farm and reused all the wood and built a coop 13.5 x 11 ft. We kept it just under what would have required a building permit.
My husband did siding, roofing and window replacement for a living so we had our pick of old windows to use.
I currently have 12 chickens and 5 guineas.

I included the 30sqft of poop boards, they definitely get used as floor space.
That's 125sqft for ~30 birds in summer and ~16 in winter.

84 feet of floor space + 12 feet of poop board space. Access to large yard, with shade/rain structures year around.

Right now I have 11 adults or near adults and 6 chicks, and plan to go into winter with a 12 or 13 adults.

Most adult birds I've had in there? 19, for a short time. I felt it was too many. Didn't like the poop load or roost time squabbling. 16 is my "comfortable max" and 12 is better.

I've got a few coops for various birds.
A small 4 x 4 coop that I use for several purposes. Mainly for growing out spring chicks fresh from the brooder. They spend a week or two in it, then are released to forage with the fully grown hens. After that, they only sleep in there. I also use this same coop for broody mamas.
My main chicken coop is just under 6 x 8. I have three standard hens, a Bantam rooster and five Bantam hens. They sleep in there only and free range over a couple acres.
Main duck hoop coop is 16 x 8. Currently housing 11 ducks. They sleep in there only.
My three call ducks have a huge dog house that they sleep in. It's way too big for them but this allows me add more in the future.

I have a matching coop and turkey house about 15 square feet each in a 8x30 run. I have 6 juvenile chickens and 3 turkey poults outside, 15 silkies in the indoor playpen, and 6 new chicks (amerecauna ie easter eggers) in the brooder box. will add coop space as needed once we determine how many are staying as pets, layers, etc.
