Okay so I figured it out that I need 6x4 coop for 6 chickens. I live in northern CA. Where it gets 115 degrees in the summer. I am going to raise my coop off the ground and mount a pvc pipe mister under the coop. This will be a nice cool spot for the chickens and also draw the coolness up in the coop. I will paint the wood to protect it. But what height should I make the bottom of coop? I WILL MAYBE NEED to get to the pvc pipe/ brackets. Thanks for the help.

How high to make the bottom is more about how you'll care for your flock. We hang our feeder under there and wanted to have the floor of the coop at a comfortable height for cleaning. DH is 6'3" and we set the floor at 32".

    Good luck and have fun

I agree. To avoid stooping and bending, make the bottom at least 24 inches off the ground.
