My husband of 24 years has blocked me for the day due to his sense of humor being subpar.

Have you heard the phrase, "Book smart, but has no common sense"?I was talking about chickens to a friend of my wife who is a nurse because one of her neighbors had a huge flock of chickens. I found out she didn't know a rooster was a male chicken. In the same conversation, I learned that she ate eggs till she found out they came from chickens.Her boyfriend who is a doctor friend of mine was shocked. How does one reach adulthood and not know those two bits of information. All one has to do is see the cartoon Foghorn Leghorn. The doctor asked how she couldn't know that. She said, ask her anything about drugs and she knows about it but she doesn't know anything else.
No kidding.
But oh, so entertaining!
Kids are resilient. You're doing good, teaching him where his food comes from.Dont let the chickens have co-ed sleepover and we wont have unintended chicken pregnancies!
At least they got the bird part right. I remember one time I was showing the little neighbor girl the coop, birds, and talking about the eggs. She said two things that day that made me very sad. The first, I have heard from adults too. She says "eeew! Eggs come froma chickens butt?" (I've had adults say this to me, "ewww! I cant eat your eggs. They came from a chickens butt. I'll just get mine from a store.")
The other thing she said to me, when I asked her where she thinks her meat comes from, she says to me, "McDonalds"
These poor children these days. I raised my son as closely to the earth as I was able. He understands life must be taken for us to eat, and prefers the food we raise over the store stuff. I feel like this has made him super compassionate. We just processed a nasty(tempered, he tasted great) rooster, and I spent about 30 minutes hugging him while he cried because he witnessed the actual killing part this time. I usually did that by myself and showed him the butchering process.
So glad those little ones have a teacher like you!! I know a few teachers stand out in my mind for really going above and beyond. Maybe you could hatch out some babies with them!!
