My Coop
My Coop
Hello everyone,
I'm working on getting our previously used coop ready for our four new chickies-2&1/2 wks old right now. Were starting fresh, gave away the four hens we had when we moved.
I'm trying to make the coop look like our house since it will be 25 ft away in the side yard. (See profile photo for a before picture). I'm in mid-MI, temps 70's.
I spray painted the black shingles brown, and I'm working on painting the outside yellow with white trim-like the house:)
My questions for all of you are-
1. Should I hose out the inside inside and scrub with vinegar (or other cleaner?)-or is it a bad idea to get it that wet?
2. Should I treat with pyrethrin spray before putting chicks in the coop?
3. Should I paint or white wash the inside?
I took out one nest box & going to put in a longer roost bar...any other advice or ideas how to spruce up the coop or make it more functional? Thank you!!! :)

Hello
I’ve been searching for information on this.
I live in the UK so anything I need will have to be available here.
I have three small coops and only use one at the moment as I only have a trio of Silkie chickens.
I want to clean/paint/stain two of them that aren’t used yet so they’re ready if I get three pullets in the summer.
My hens are free range in the garden and I do worry about diseases/mites etc. I would rather prevent than treat.
We have a pressure washer. Can I use that inside and out on the two that aren’t used so they can dry out properly?
And if so, which paint or stain would you recommend?
Complete newbie so any advice is welcome
Thank you
