How did I count wrong?

My original "4, maybe 6, okay, 8 chicks" in Oct. 2009 has ..... Been blown out of the water. There are close to 75 or 80 fowl of various ages, breeds, and even species here now. Of course, at least 25 chicks simply don't count, as they're still in brooders.

I think I may have you all beat! Lets see here:

31+9+125+9-3+3+6= 180!!!

lets not forget the 11 ducks I added and there have been 8 ducklings hatched so far---9 more to hatch in the bator. oh and another duckling out under a broody hen

oh and the 2 turkeys I picked up last week...

and I have 4 Muscovies sitting

My chicken math started with 3 hens about 2 years ago...

Just hatched out 31 chicks over the weekend...

18 hatched out 4 weeks ago...

and after rescuing a few roosters to put with my hens I'm up to 7 layers (3 BR's 2 RIR's and 2 EE's) and 2 roos (RIR & EE).

OK.....maybe my post seemed like a joke, but I am sitting here a few days later still wondering how I have 17 chicks. 4 roos + 12 pullets = 16.....but at last headcount there were 17. I know how the chicken math works as I started with 12 hens, added 14 ducks, 16 chicks and 11 guineas, but I am still wondering how 8 weeks later I am just fnding out that there are actually 17 chicks. I am absolutely certain that there were only 16. I got 4 roos, bought 6 yellow fuzzies from TSC and then went back and bought 6 red fuzzies the next day. I'm stumped

My chicken math is as follows, 1 roo+3 chickens+3 chickens+7 chicks+2 chicks+5 chicks-1 chick(died)-3 chickens(culled)+ 32 eggs= more than I really need but there has to be some- with all the roos that I should have.

When I got my chicks from the hatchery, I was given an extra partridge rock and 1 less leghorn than I ordered. That plus I started with 3 a week before. (but I ordered 15 and only 3 made it, so they replaced the whole order) . Which do you have 1 more of, the "12" pullets or the chicks from tsc?

The person filling the order(s) miscounted, you can't have had a chick appear from thin air.

It's amazing how chicken math happens. I started with 2 then + 4-1+1+1+4+2+3+6 and soon to be adding 30.
