Ok, I have only pearl gunea's. Just regular old pearls. One of my hens sitting on her nest just hatched out 23 keets, well 20 regular pearl keets and three grayish white keets. I guess they are some kind of lavender keet. Now i have only pearls how did i get some lavender keets?? Nobody around the mountain has guneas so there is no chance they bred with another gunea. I am stumped!! Happy as a giddy schoolgirl but stumped!!

My guess would be that some of your guineas are not pure pearl, meaning that they have whatever the color of the babies is in their background somewhere.

The Grey pearl gene is dominent in guineas. So if you breed a pearl to a lavender you will hatch pearls but they will have the gene for lavender but it will be subdominent. When you breed two pearls together that came off of a pearl to lavender breeding you will produce some lavenders. Now this can show futher generations down.
