How did this egg get a hole in it?

We have a Hen that lays eggs in the haystack. Yesterday I found an egg in her nest and another a bale below with a hole in it about the diameter of a chicken's beak. Would the Hen have pushed this egg out of her nest and pecked a hole in it? The egg's contents were intact.

Maybe, and maybe a crow or bluejay gained access and pecked the egg before being disturbed, and maybe it fell from the nest and was punctured by something.
