How did you choose names?

Our first batch, the 2 light, 2 buff and 1 dark brahmas and the BJG were originally named based on what they were... We had light and white, buff and buffy, darky and blacky. Darky has become Hawke, because my kids decided she looked hawkish (and we're all fans of Dragon Age). Blacky is still Blacky... The buffs and lights are the big one and the littler one [of that color].

Then we got the chicks.... At this point, named Rocky the BR, Bucky the Buckeye, Dinner the Meyer's Meal Maker (aka Cornish x), Bunny the EE, Lace the GLW and Speck the Speckled Sussex.

yes, I'm really original. Since there is always the possibility they could be eaten, I didn't want my kids to get attached by naming. Later, if better names seem to line up, then we'll change them... although I think Blacky is stuck with her name, and so is Bucky and Rocky.

I haven't named all of mine yet. I just haven't figured out what fits them yet. The ones that do have names are Wizard of Oz/Wicked themed. There is Glinda (EE), Elphaba (EE...and is my avatar), Toto (light brahma) and Flying Monkey (my VERY obvious light brahma cockerel).
My Black Australorp is named Glinda. And for a similar reason: While I don't normally have a theme for naming my chickens, any completely black bird (chicken, duck, whatever) gets named after a demon, devil, witch, wizard, sorcerer...
