How did you come up with your screen name?

My first and most favorite pet chicken when I was about 7 or 8 until she died when I was in high school, Raindrop. She listened to all my boy troubles, friend troubles, etc. Chickens are so understanding!

cat is my nickname and I have lots of critters

I am a chatter...a bonefide TRUE chataholic...and since I do enjoy talking/chatting I try to be friends with everyone because other peoples stories interest me.
I also work with migrant workers out of Mexico and have made some wonderful friends South of the Border.
For some reason, it seems it's harder for some of the men i work with to pronounce my name so they just call me amigo.
So I chose the amigocontodos...which I hope means friend with all! lol

Neat!

Mines a no-brainer. Currently I am living in SW ontario, Canada. We used to live in northern Canada, and I miss it terribly. I miss the snow, the forests, the fishing, the hunting, etc, etc, etc. we will be here until DH retires, so until then, I will miss the north. After he retires, I plan on being back up there

Interesting thread.

Many decades ago, when I saw the ocean for the first time, I was fascinated watching pelicans dive. For several years after I collected pelican art & figures.

When I got my first computer and screen name, back in the early 90s, I chose pelican... and '49 is the year I was born.

After I bought 5 acres in the country last fall, haven't moved there yet, I started thinking about getting chickens. I found this very helpful forum while doing a google search. I registered using my every day screen name. Now I blame all of you for my new plans. I came here thinking, fix up old coop on property ad get 4 or 5 laying hens, maybe start with pullets who are ready to start laying.

New plans, tear down old coop and build new one. Maybe a dozen hens (starting with day-olds so I can see them grow). A 2nd coop to contain a flock of guineas for the major tick problem out there. That little pond at the back of the property could be enlarged and ducks would love it. Maybe that area on the south side would be a good place for turkeys or meat chickens.

So much for relaxing during retirement.

Now see what y'all have done?

When I first joined BYC (the old board) 2 yrs ago we had just moved out to the country & at the time I had 3 small children all under the age of five, a brand bew puppy, 2 new kittens, & a dozen new baby chicks. So I just felt like a *Momma Hen*.......still do!
