So I just realized I lost track of their ages and thought they were 6 months.

I opened my coop today, let everyone out, waited a while and went to check eggs. Only 5 in the nest boxes so I go check the coop because some pullets just drop it wherever. Found Speckles dead. She managed to snap her neck and hang herself on a roosting branch. Considering the scene I have concluded it happened last night at roosting time. And it was quick and quiet because I was outside at that time. Seriously and I thought quail were stupid.

How old are they?

21 weeks. 22 weeks on Monday and Wednesday. I need to chill out.

My goal for the next few weeks is to not check vents and not even really check for eggs. I do think I’m going to buy some more ceramic eggs though. I have 3 boxes and 1 egg each only in two.
