How do I deep clean my coop?

Giant coop cleanout will commence tomorrow....the permethrin we have says '10% Permethrin' on it. Do I need to dilute it further?


Spray birds with it as well? All over or just their butts?

What kind of sprayer do you have?

These are the dilutions that I used.

Permethrin spray(Gordons 10)
At 10 mls (two teaspoons) per 1/2 gallon(2qts) of water in the sprayer
At 5 mls (one teaspoons) per 1/4 gallon(1qts) of water in the sprayer

Spray a squirt on birds butt, belly, around neck, and under wings.
Make sure you get it under the feathers and on the skin.

We got a seperate spray bottle- just a regular one that you would use for cleaning. Mine says Martin's Permethrin 10% . I just looked up Gordons 10 but I don't see what concentration it is.

Omfg....that was awful. I feel absolutely horrible for letting it get this bad.

Permission to A: dunk entire coop in vat of 100% permethrin, leave it there for a week
or B: burn the whole thing and make a new coop

There were mites everywhere. If I had taken 2 seconds to look, I would have been able to catch it sooner... I feel awful that I didn’t even think to check.

Yes. I can *hope* to never have an issue, but I have tried to learn and be prepared in case I do.
