Cities 3 miles away from me are being evacuated and the sky is a maroonish color. What should I evacuate my chickens in. Boxes? Crates? Any suggestions?

That's not too many.

Just be sure they aren't so crunched together to cause over heating. Preferably tall enough to stand up in. But if not, then do what you need to short term and let them out as soon as it's safe to do so.

Use boxes with holes punched in. Dog crates, plastic totes with holes.. basically anything you can use AND fit in your vehicle.

Adding your general location might help folks make their best suggestion possible at a glance.

That looks pretty scary and horrid! :(

Do you already have a plan where to go?

I know some folks who can't get the animals in their car have simply turned them loose verses leaving locked in. Hopefully you won't face that sort of decision.

I don't get news, so hadn't realized how bad it is this year so far. :barnie

No advice but I wanted to let you know that I (and many others) are keeping you in our thoughts and wishing you the very best. Stay safe!

P.S.
Lucky birds for you to think about them and look into what you need to do to keep them safe. So many don't consider them when they prepare to evacuate. Thank you!
My heart breaks for those who don't have an option to evacuate with their pets and belongings.

This just breaks my heart so much. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Do anything but a box. Even with holes they will overheat and die.
I'm sorry you have to go through this... :(
