what are hackles. Im new to raising chickens if you cant tell
Hackles are the neck feathers, on a make they are pointed and a female rounded. Saddles are on the back just behind the wings and will alao be longer and pointed in the males shorter and round in females, and then of course look for the classic long flowing rooster tail.

Combs and waddles are a good early indication 7-10 weeks males will start to fill in and turn red while females will remain smaller and pale.

By 12-14 weeks rooster feather should be appearing I think hackles then saddles then tail as they mature.

By 20weeks a cockerel (young rooster) should look like a rooster

thank you so much if i have any more chickens im confused about ill post a picture on here.I think all of them may be hens based on your description im going to take a closer look on #2

I'm wondering who said 3 was a rooster? I'm thinking that might be a miss cast and 3 is deffinatly not. But the third picture which is the first image of #2 might be the confusion there

i get what your saying,I have 3 days to choose 9 hens for 2 people one wants 6 and the other wants 3 they all have to be hens so i might just put #2 aside and choose one more accurate to a hen

If you can't confirm one that they really want you can always offer them the option to trade back if 1 does turn out to be a rooster. They bring you the confirmed rooster you give then another female in its place. But a with your other post "bachelor coop"
