How Do I Get Rid of Predators?

So do you have to wait for a bird to be actually dead? Or them running a muck trying to kill them.

What if you get them just before they killed your chicken I wonder?

Interesting that the owner would have to put down the animal. Is that true even if you just witnessed the dog kill your bird and you didn't get a shot off?

Sorry, I'm a little detail oriented!

Thanks for sharing, it helps my mind to consider how to act if I'm faced with the situation. :highfive:
Here no one is forced to kill their Dogs but forced to keep then on their property with many fines after each issue...I charged my neighbour 3 times when his unsocialized Dog came here and attacked mine on my property...

No need to apologize! I'm just as curious as you. :)
I honestly have no idea, here's what the article says:
"A. If any person discovers a dog killing, wounding or chasing livestock, or discovers a dog under circumstances which show conclusively that it has recently killed or chased livestock, he may pursue and kill the dog.
B. The owner of a dog is liable for damages caused by the dog chasing livestock. In the case of a dog killing or wounding livestock, the owner of the dog is liable for damages to the owner of the livestock equal to three times the value of the livestock killed or wounded."
Another example:
"(A) If any person discovers a dog killing, wounding or chasing animals, livestock or fowl or discovers a dog under circumstances which show conclusively that it has recently killed animals, livestock or fowl, he or she may pursue, capture and surrender it to the Animal Control Division.
(B) The owner of a dog is liable for damages caused by the killing, wounding or chasing animals, livestock or fowl."

Contact the animal control and get the full story as to what the laws are in your area...Then you will know exactly what can be done....
Totally! But I feel bad for charging them for killing a few chickens. However, if it happens again, I am ready to charge them, or kill their dog if it is seen butchering chickens on my property.

Charges won't be applied unless you want them?...They will go talk to the Dog owners though and explain the situation with proper control of their dogs...

Oh gosh! But this time I think it was a mistake; the dog must've dug a hole, the owner said. Although I believe him, it's not a mistake the second time, in my opinion, since it can be stopped.

I mean, I don't feel like calling Animal Control over a possible mistake. I was more scared of having them call the cops of me than me calling the cops on them. But, okay, I see.

Yes...Its always best to communicate with the Dogs owners..I sure never want them to kill their Dog or us to have to shoot it either ?. Although we will shoot to kill if it comes back...Never a good situation ..Best wishes....
