How do I keep my (one ) chicken warm in the NE weather?

She's noisy in the morning? Could it be that she is lonely? I find single birds make a ruckus till they get attention from a friend... in that case, two might be quieter than one!

I used a cat carrier with a blanket in it for Penny and Slifer and Obelisk had a cardboard box with a comforter in it...
But they're house chickens...
Chicken Diapers do work.

OMG......I saw that picture the other day and i could not figure out what it was. I decided it was a bandage. Alot of people had injured chickens this summer from attacks and i thought that was one all bandaged up. Well now i know what that is, I'm glad to finally get to see a chicken diaper.

As others have said, she probably is chatty in the morning because there are no other chickens to talk to, so she is calling for you to come out there and visit. Many folks on here take a liberal approach to their town's zoning laws, and have more chickens than they are supposed to. join the rebels!

If you really don't want another, then go for the indoor approach and use the diapers.

I live in Warwick, RI also. I have 6 RIR hens. As long as you are friendly with the neighbors you shouldn't have a problem...
