How do I kill a fox in a have-a-heart trap?

The couple of times I've shot a small animal through the chest, it was facing me, and I shot into the thoracic inlet aiming straight through the body front to back. Hit the heart and lungs, and was fast. Wanted rabies testing done (both negative, yeah!).

I didn't take a picture of the fox caught in the trap but did post pictures when I was luring it into the traps. One fox that had killed some birds I did a body shot and I had to do a second shot to the head and then it was instant death. The last fox I eliminated was a head shot.

I don't kill unless the predator is a risk to my birds and have killed any. Otherwise it's live and let live. I have a lot of security measures and if any are breached it's sorry for their luck.

There are many places on the head where a predator can be shot. If it isn't an instant, totally incapacitating kill, then the shooter did not do it correctly.

I had very little blood with the head shots and what was in the trap hosed off fine.
