How do I prevent flies?

What is the best way to get rid of flies from the chicken run in addition to daily cleaning?

Fly tape, fly tape, fly tape. It's cheap, easy, and works great.

Also Spalding's fly predators, totally non-toxic. Bait stations away from the coop and living area, because they attract flies. Dry bedding, as much as possible. Permethrin spray in the coop if necessary. Chickens do eat flies, and maggots during the day. Permethrin dust under the bedding.

I use permethrin concentrate in a gallon sprayer. I have more of a fly problem in my coops but my poop pits are under the roosts. I thoroughly spray inside the coop. At first I did it because my birds had gotten some mites. To my surprise it also took care of my fly problem. I tried several things including DE. I didn't use fly tapes because my ceilings in my coops are fairly low and I didn't want the birds to into get to them or me. Good luck...

Permethrin 13. 3 is for fly control not Permethrin 10.
Use the 13.3 permethrin mixed as directed to your use. That will be different for each problem so read the directions. It is easy if you can remember to use 13.3 and mix for what you are spraying for. Works very well if you follow directions.

For whatever reason I don't have flies in my coops. I did treat the coops with permethrin 10 originally for some mites and it worked on the flies. It's a treat to walk into the coops without being bombarded with the flies.
