Police report
Sad to say the next report you read may be a child beat to death with a rock.Sorry your first try with a great hobbie has turned into maybe a serial killer in training, and by the way welcome.

Well, those of us in Colorado do have more options than some...
"A Castle Doctrine (also known as a Castle Law or a Defense of Habitation Law) is an American legal concept derived from English Common Law, which designates one's place of residence (or, in some states, any place legally occupied, such as one's car or place of work) as a place in which one enjoys protection from illegal trespassing and violent attack. It then goes on to give a person the legal right to use deadly force to defend that place (his/her "castle"), and/or any other innocent persons legally inside it, from violent attack or an intrusion which may lead to violent attack. In a legal context, therefore, use of deadly force which actually results in death may be defended as justifiable homicide under the Castle Doctrine.
Castle Doctrines are legislated by state, and not all states in the US have a Castle Doctrine. The term "Make My Day Law" comes from the landmark 1985 Colorado statute that protects people from any criminal charge or civil suit if they use force - including deadly force - against an invader of the home.[1] The law's nickname is a reference to the famous line uttered by Clint Eastwood's character Dirty Harry in the 1983 film Sudden Impact, "Go ahead, make my day.""

After thieves walked off with my flock of heritage RIRs, I got serious about livestock protection. We have motion detectors, cameras, sensors that buzz in the house when someone opens a stall door, and HOT WIRE around the perimeter. Just 4 days ago someone set the system off. I took the dogs with me when I went to investigate at 2 am, and they chased somebody. When I checked the cameras, we had NICE, CLEAR pictures of who it was. The cops, who really didn't want to be bothered, just did not have a choice thanks to those cameras!

Trespass IS still illegal. And since the schmuck was stupid enough to be carrying drugs when they arrested him, he's likely going to do some time in the county lockup.

Definitely file a police report - even if the police aren't concerned about the chicken there was trespassing, and he broke the lock to get in. Add to that the statements of your neighbors, and I would think that at least one of the parents of the 10-12 year olds would be concerned enough to add their concern about this older guy maybe "contributing to the delinquency" or something. If you haven't, I would also post some very noticeable NO TRESPASSING signs. THEN I'd put my shotgun by the door!

Congratulations! Well done... It is so sad to have to protect your own pets and property that way. I hope I never have that kind of problem. I have 2 dogs who have a doggy-door and can go out whenever they want...I hope that at least deters idiot kids from coming around here, but I know it's not complete protection.

Hi..you need to file a police report.... and get a security camera(that he cant see)...also....why is a 20 year old hanging around with kids?....creepy!
