How do I rescue chickens from slaughterhouses and factories?

So, maybe what you’re saying is, if she wants to make a difference don’t buy the end product from a store? Maybe only buy from someone you know or do it yourself.

Poster can do what ever floats the boat but it's really a unattainable goal. Where do you think some of the meat by products in commercial feed (including chicken feed) come from....All my animals that I feed commercial food to (pond fish, cat food, dog food, chicken food) contains at least some sort of chicken by product in it.

I've always justified commercial chicken meat stuff with this logic:
These chickens would not have hatched if they were not going to be killed. There was never a 'better life' option because from the get go, they would not exist otherwise. Many meat birds will die at young ages anyway because they are made to get fat and be killed.

Yes. It’s a lofty goal, to be kind. Not being kind, but I’m being kind in saying lofty vs well, something not nice I don’t want to be rude to someone just trying to do something kind, even if unattainable.
Do your part. Read labels, do research, say goodbye to your grocery store and favorite foods. Commercial farming, whether fruit, vegetable, grains, pigs, chickens, etc. SUCKS
It hurts everybody. Don’t forget about the people living by these places. Their air and water are almost always polluted. Remember the romaine lettuce fiasco?

Yep. Also, they will die anyway on their own at around 6-8 weeks old of heart attacks or starvation due to broken leg(s). That’s the way they were bred.

Yep. I wish that more egg factories wouldn't mistreat their birds, but I don't think that there's much I can do about meat birds. We aren't buying store bought eggs anymore so am not propping the industry, but I'm afraid that that doesn't help. I wish that there were more commercial productions that gave their birds some semblence of a good life,

The best way to improve animal welfare is your own backyard, education, experience and practicing proper animal husbandry assures that you are not contributing to the mistreatment of animals. Most people who raise their own poultry don't approve of "factory farming". Ethical raising and treatment of our own flocks is our advocacy.

What is 'industry standard'? Sardine packing chickens??? One of the things that I really like about BYC is that everyone cares for their birds well and always promotes good animal care practices.

Small scale farming, local is all good and merry but there's no way in the US or the world for that matter could feed the populations and no way every family could supply their own because it's not feasible. Take for example one block in a big city can have thousands of people. 8,000-10,000 in just one giant sky scrapper during a workday in NY city alone. It maybe sad the conditions and practices of some factories but large scale factories are a evil necessity to supply the needs of our populations.
