I have had similar happen many times and juveniles seldom go very far. Avoid chasing if you do spot it. If it was scared enough it will slink about in underbrush and even burrow into weeds to avoid you. It will not just keep going in a strange direction. When I have have broods busted up by a predator (hen lost) I could put a rooster in a pen near where I think lost chicks are located. Chicks will go to the rooster if they cannot hear siblings or mother.
