Tell him you are pregnant and don't know what to do!!! give it a few minutes and then tell him you were just kidding that you just picked up a few more peeps.
I promise he won't care about the peeps and you might even get a few more out of it.

I had to laugh at these posts!!!

However....I keep thinking..... my chicks aren't even here yet.....8 days and counting..... but I still have to go get the feed for the new arrivals. Of course I want to have it here before they are here.
I am afraid.
So afraid......that when I walk in TSC, I am gonna see all the chicks.....and even though i don't have any yet, I will have some before I even get mine.
Husband will be not be happy. I can't use the excuse to sit him down and tell him we are expecting an addition to the family. He would throw me out before I even had a chance to explain.
Besides I am too old for that.

Maybe I should ask forgiveness before I even head to TSC?
I have tried to explain to husband that maybe HE should go pick up the feed, especially since I've been crying about all the poor little chickens in the poultry factories that live a terrible life before they are- sniff, sniff, killed.
He says I am certainly capable of going to pick up chick feed(plus dog food) without coming home with chicks. He doesn't understand.
My brooder isn't even set up yet.
I will let you all know what happens.

But, congrats on the new chicks.... what an exciting time at your house !

My hubby and our kids have been camping since Wednesday. They come home tomorrow. I picked up 6 chicks yesterday and texted them a picture of mama hen with just one chick. He's gonna choke me when he finds out I got SIX!

Hee hee - I just did this the other day! I had four in the brooder - I came home with six more. He looked in the brooder when he came home (because he secretly likes the chickens;) and said "What the H*** happened" - I said "I don't know what you are talking about?"
He said "All those hatched today?" - I said "Yes" - Lucy and Ricky stayed in love forever that way you know?

In response to your question earlier in this thread, we have 14 standard various-breed hens and five silkies. We keep our silkies along side, but separate from the standards, just because they ARE so much smaller. It's the nature of my big girls to keep the less-strong in line, and I don't want to see that pecking order established at the cost of my little silkies. When the big girls leave their coop/pen area each afternoon to free range, then if the weather is nice, the silkies get let out into the big hens' territory and they act like they think that's just the greatest treat in the world, space to run and chase and play. Enjoy your mix! We do:) ~G

'...And that may have to be the new BYC t-shirt-
