I tried pine shaving bedding this week and decided it is not for me. So I went back to the feed store today to get some Barn Dry pellets so I can go back to non-smelliness..... and then....... I heard it...... peeping!

My oldest chicks are only 5 wks.....then I have some 2 and 3 weekers....but at the store they had more and they peeped!

So I had to ask if they were all spoken for. Most were, but of course they ordered in assorted bantams. So I had to ask if I could look. I'd never seen bantam chicks and was all kinds of excited to compare their size to standard chicks.

THEN I noticed the things that did me in..... Silkies! I had to get some. So I got him to bring me a little box and I grabbed a black, a white, a buff, and a multicolor.

Thankfully I have extra supplies due to rearranging my thinking on the other 2 brooders....so the only cost involved was a small tub and the chicks themselves.

I AM IN SO MUCH TROUBLE~!!!! But they are too darn cute!

Don't ask, don't tell! Maybe he won't notice.

hahah tell him the easter bunny left them for you Or better yet someone played a April fool joke and left them at your door step then later you can tell him Happy Late April fools I really bought them a month ago Then that way no lies

I ordered runner ducks then told him that he didn't have to worry about Mother's Day for me. I'm still alive and married.

Won't be free ranging here..... too many predators. There's no way they'd make it. We're planning our coop this week and having a contractor friend come down the following week to help us put it together (and that it stands upright on it's own).

Is there anything special to take into consideration with these guys. I have 14 standards right now (2BR, 2Gold Comets, 2BB, 2BO, 2GLWyandotte, and 4Americauna). These are 4 little teeny tiny guys/gals in comparison. Should I have a smaller seperate coop and run for them? Or a section of the coop and run for the big guys penned off for them?

My DH doesn't ask about chicken stuff and I don't ask about all the hunting stuff he HAS to have--works for us. He may get dragooned into building another coop this summer though....

That's right! We don't NEED any more car stuff, guns, flashlights. But I NEED more chickens!

Just sit him down and tell him there is going to be a new addition to the family, then tell him they are chicks. He'll be so relieved that it'll be ok. ( it worked with me.... )
