Hello all, I am growing okra for the first time. This being said, I have no idea as to when to pick it. I did read that when it is matured the plant will stop producing. So I know i have to pick it before it matures. If anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

It will grow pods and you pick them when they are between four and six inches long. Any longer and they start to get tough. Here is a site with any other questions about it. We grow it every year so if you need anything just ask.

After that they tend to get tough, bitter and some varieties can be stringy.

In my experience okra has almost always been an indeterminate grower. The more pods you pick, the more it will produce. You only need a couple plants to happily have okra thoughout the season.
