I have a problem with a bobcat. It has not bothered my chickens yet but it is wreaking havoc on my poor cat. What bait is best? Do I need to camouflage the trap somehow. Any tips will be appreciated. My cat will be stuck in a large cage so he can't slip outside until he heals and the bobcat is gone.

Do ya already got a trap? If so, what kind? I found that (dont yell at me yall) a live chicken is the best bait, but a dead bloody chicken also works pretty good.

I'd call the State wildlife officials and see if they would relocate the bobcat. They are beautiful animals. They have gotten rare here.

I have the cage type trap. When the animal steps on a lever the door closes. It is sized for a large raccoon but I don't mind buying bigger if needed. I thought about buying a store bought baking hen and trying it but don't want to give it ideas.

I have trapped many bobcats using a coilspring foot trap baited with pork cracklins(for those not from south thats cooked down pieces of pork fat)

LOL I hear ya on that! Yeah, I'd think that trap would be big enuff, I've caught bobs in my coon traps before. If ya dont wanna bait it with chicken, you could try hamburger, but chicken really does work best, sad but true.

Sit outside in the dark with a bloody steak in your mouth while you hold the shotgun.

I bet I catch lots of coons possums skunks and house cats while trying to catch that booger. I will definitely keep the chicken and cracklings in mind. I will not use a leg hold because of too much other wildlife and domestic animals in the area. Has anyone ever used a fish?
