How do they look??

Yours look great!! How big is your coop area? Mine are about the same age and look bigger. I have just started to take the food away at night. and they have out grown their brooder. Job for tomorrow is to put them outside in the bigger tractor and still keep them warm enough. thees 30degree nights are not helping. 80 2 days ago and now 56with COLD nights again. Mich is so much fun!

Yours look exactly like mine did a few weeks ago. I'm not positive on the age in this pic, but it was probably between 2 & 3 weeks. Their butts are huge. They look a LITTLE better now that their feathers are in, but they're still ugly. Ours have 4 more days before freezer camp.

How come their butts look so big? My meaties are about 5 days old and I have noticed that their butts look a lot bigger than I remember with my egg layers. That is normal right?

And Hawtchick, your set up is really nice and clean!

How often do you change the litter? I find I am having to add more at least once a day/

They have big bums because they eat a whole lot and there are lots of guts in that big bum. Don't forget to withhold feed for 12 hours or so before butchering as it will greatly reduce the gut mass.

I am so glad to see picks of meaties around the same age. Their bottoms were really worrying me, but now I feel better about it.
Thanks for the tip about withholding the feed 12 hours prior to butchering.
Does EVERYONE agree that 12 hours on the off from 3 weeks on is the way to go???
