and do you have any special "pet talk" for them? I go, "here chook chook" and for some silly reason, when I pick one up I am always saying, "who's a good chicken?" in baby talk. actually, i say "thicken" and when its plural, its "thickenzth"
I say "Here Chick chick chick" and I mimick the sound of the roo when he is calling them. But, when they are free ranging and I head to the coop . . . no need to call them. They come running barely touching the ground because they think it's feeding time. Michael
I just yell "c'mon girls!". My rooster apparently thinks he's a girl, cuz he's always the first to come running.
Well usually they just see me and they come... but.. I do call them too. From the time they were a week old I would always go "hi you peep peep" or just "peep peep" and it just stuck... so now - they answer to that They also answer to "chook chook chook" Then again..I'll bet if I said "here kitty kitty" they'd answer to THAT too if I had food
Quote:Same here , although they run full speed towards me everytime I come out of the house... just in case there are treats.
I just yell out "Ladies" and they come looking for me. And its kinda funny, cause there is a rooster in there now and he doesn't come when called. Maybe he is insulted?
I holler, "Heeerrreee chick, chick, chick!" and they all come running. Wings flapping, feet running, and wattling as fast as they can go! I love to call them and watch them run to me!
