How do you control the addiction?

I guess I left out the fact that I already have 27 standard hens and 1 roo, 13 almost adult Bantams and 6 ducks

They are going to have to scooch over and make room for all the new additions lol.

I am trying so hard not to buy any because I know mine are coming on the 22nd and they are my first. They will be part of a group my friend ordered for her son( he has the fever BAD!!).
I don't even have them yet and I am addicted!
edited to fix typo

I just got home from stopping at TSC for layer crumbles. Guess what else came home with me.... 8 more bantam chicks!!! I think I got a couple Easter Egger bantams in this group!

They must have just got another 100 or so in. The poor things were jammed in the bin, I just had to save some of them. Now I have 18 assorted bantams and 10 standard chicks from TSC. I gotta stay out of there. I won't have anywhere to put my chicks due to hatch from the bator on Monday or the 36 chicks due to arrive from Ideal next Wednesday!!!

Yes, my spring chick fever may be getting out of control. I may need to go to the Emergency chick fever addiction program, but then who would take care of my precious little babies. So I am picking up my 8 babies that they are holding for me on Monday and the 12, oh wait we ended up making it 15 when I added 3 more frizzles to the 12 silkies I ordered, that I ordered from Ideal will be in on Wednesday. I need to make some more brooders and quick to keep up with my new addiction. Shhhhhhh don't tell the hubby he doesn't know yet! hehehehe

I am starting to feel like a kid when I used to sneak in baby kitties, puppies and rabbits into my parents house and they wouldn't find them for a few weeks, hehehehe. My mom finally found the rabbits one day when she said she smelled something a little funny coming from my room, I was 11/12 at the time and I had 3 rabbits in my room. Not only did I get one for me, but one for both of my sisters too. Unfortunately, my kindness for thinking about my sisters didn't pay off bcs my mom made us take them back. However, I always managed to keep the kitties and puppies.

I went crazy this spring with 5 brooders going:

25- 2week old speckled sussex chicks
15- 2 week old bronze turkey poults
5- 1 week old bantam chicks
5- 3 day old bantam chicks
10- 3 day old mallard ducklings

The only thing that stops me from buying up all the chicks from TSC and having a kazillion eggs shipped in from here, is that I don't have any money, LOL.
Money may not buy happiness, but it buys things that bring happiness

I have no idea if there is a cure or control.

I only intended to have 5. 4 hens and a rooster. So how did I end up with 18? and 24 eggs in the 'bator?

We only wanted enough hens to keep our family of 4 in eggs. We bought 8 hens a year ago. PERFECT!!!

Then...neighbor gave us a roo, church member gave us 2 hens & 1 roo, HAD to try to hatch our very own eggs - 22 in the brooder - lady on my route gave me 18 ameraucana eggs - different church member gave me 10 more eggs - 27 eggs due to hatch next weekend. We live on less than an acre - I think we're fixin' to be crowded.

Just enough to keep us in eggs, yeah, right! I don't even really know how it happened, it happened all soo fast! (but I wouldn't change a thing)
