How do you decide what percent protein to feed?

I feed 20% all flock. We have some large breeds, and found they needed that boost, leading to less behavioral issues, but anecdotal based on one persons flock. Also, when I feed treats, I’m not taking their protein too low bc I’m diluting it with treats, since the my start with a 20% feed. Since yours are more like pets as you noted, that might be one reason to find a bit higher protein so any treats don’t dilute their intake.

True. I'm willing to assume the mill got the other things right enough. If they didn't, I'm probably not going to do a better job at it. I thought I could "fix" protein without unbalancing everything else by feeding some name brand starter or game bird grower. If it needed fixing.
