I have been trying to encourage my hens to go broody, I've seen people put golf balls in the nesting box and I myself have done the same thing its been over a month so how might I encourage it.

Get a silkie or a cochin. :gig

In reality you can’t ”encourage” a hen to go broody. If you want a hen that is likely to go broody often, get a breed that is known for doing so. Of course even with silkies or Cochins you aren’t guaranteed a broody as every bird is different.
Tell me about it. 6 years without a broody silkie, almost 7 without a broody Cochin bantam until last year finally

If only you had my Silkie hen Johnny. She goes broody every few weeks, in fact she just got off being broody (for 2 weeks at least). She is also very motherly, if you have a chick she will adopt it even if you are taking care of it (this includes other chickens chicks). Though she is only there for the cuteness and once they start looking kind off ratty around 3 weeks she gives up, she will hang around till they are about 3 months......before being broody again.
