How do you gather your eggs?

I bought a small basket so that when I have more than two birds laying, I'll be ready!

I usually use pockets of coat or pants. Yes have smashed them by accidentally running into things with my side, breaking them by leaning down and hear that fateful crack and wetness. I even have tucked in bra( it was wired and I stood up and stretched and CRACK! ) . I have a lovely antique basket but you'd have to remember it!

so mostly I use whatever's handy and hope I don't smash them

I keep a small wire basket in the coop. After I empty it I leave it on the porch in the afternoon and then when hubby goes out to do a final check at night, he takes the basket back with him.

For onesies, twosies, pocket or hands work fine. Though I need to remember to not take eggs jogging with me!

I usually just use my hands to carry the 2 eggs I get daily, but next spring, 2 more girls will start laying. Then I'll bring out the beautiful apron I got from @SnapdragonQ !

I have a lovely wicker basket thats been clear coated. Normally have some hay in there. And when thats forgotten or still full, a flat bottom feed scoop, the empty feed bucket, hoodie pockets, or absolute last resort my hat. . . I don't like having to wash my hat.
Easter is coming around shortly, I have in the past waited till a day/week after and get those cute buckets and baskets for $0.10 or less.

I have 19 hens and I’m only free trying about 5 eggs a day so for now I just put them in my pockets but in the spring when we get more than a dozen a day, I’ll definitely be bringing out my basket I can’t wait till spring!
