How do you gather your eggs?

I found this at a resale shop the week before I picked up my first chicks. It holds the five or six eggs I expected to be the most I will get in a day.

I haven't used it yet; I couldn't find it during the couple of weeks all five were laying. I use hands and pockets... lost two so far when I forgot what else was in my pocket (screws and eggs don't play well together).. I was fixing the coop.

I thought a broken egg in blue jeans pocket was bad. The second one was in a heavy winter jacket.:he

Went down to collect eggs. Took my basket! Checked all waterers, gathered up all feed bins and pith them away for the night. Collected eggs and sat basket on the shelf while I walked around to lock up the banty coop. Came back to grab my basket and it was in the coop floor surrounded by some RIRs that were very pleased with themselves for finding a late night snack. It was only 3 banty eggs so, oh well. Guess my basket didn’t help so much.:lau

Mine LOVE to do this. A basket is bucket shaped. Bucket shaped means food. Food is good.

Spent two months knitting this lovely egg apron for use when gathering eggs. It was remembered and used for about a month when the girls started laying in July. Then we started getting 14 eggs so pockets got involved. About October molting starting and egg production dropped off so the apron went to the wayside and I've been using pockets. It's snowing so now I put two in each overall pocket, two in each coat pocket, and if I get extra they go into the sweatshirt pockets or the hands. I have definitely found an egg hours later in a sweatshirt pocket :gig

I have taken off a shirt layer to carry them in... Good chances one slips out when I do. I have turned my hoody around backward and used the hood as an apron. That goes a little better.

I have two baskets and a large forage apron. Sometimes I remember to use them. Sounds like I'm not the only one to know about surprise broken eggs found in pockets hours later.
