How do you handle unwanted evangelists who knock at your door?

I know a lot of people share that thinking...they are only trying to teach you about what lies ahead and how things are going to change. They are worried about people surviving Armageddon and that is why they persist. It is not to annoy....I know it does a lot of people, but think if you had the cure for cancer...would you not keep shouting it out until everyone listened? That is how they feel...they know what the bible foretells and want to share it with everyone. The bible even foretells of this time when the preaching will be done. What I'd be scared of is when they stop knocking.....

What I have to say to this is that Christians KNOW what we believe. We KNOW it. Thing is THEY know it too!!! So who is right. Does it matter, if you are firm in your faith? To me as a Christian, yes is matters, but I take that to prayer, not to message boards to tell people how wrong they are. What I blelieve is wrong is really pointless.

Well Debi....you start asking questions....and good ones....try to "stump" em with your truths....and just let them show you what they think....an open mind is all it takes and a few minutes to learn...ask about the trinity, blood issues, prophecies...whatever strikes you...then listen to the answer with an open mind...and THEN decide if if what you believe is irrelevant.

Christians are never asked to live the christian life but to let Christ live it through them. It does seem that fact gets lost in cultural christianity. Biblical Christianity is a little different. IMO

But what happens if the person not interested becomes interested? Happens ALL the time...also if the uninterested person moves the next might be interested....that's why...not to aggravate

That's a good point, people DO move house a lot. I still think maybe every two or three months is too often though, twice a year wouldn't be so bad for the same house.

Nice try!

A person truly interested will seek out the information for themselves if it is available...and here in the states it is very available. These persistent efforts could be put to use in nations where the info is not readily available or even illegal.

Personally I have the perfect sign on my door to keep solicitors away:

"Manager"

This tends to keep the teens bused up away; I ask for their permits and when they do not have them I tell them to wait at the corner for the police to help them with getting them.

I have several JW tenants, even have a mid-week bible service held in one unit for years. They are pretty good at leaving alone any tenant that asks them not to return. But you have to clearly say do not bother me again or they will be back. I feel bad for them and especially the youth who are pressured to go on missions. They all know I do not believe you can buy your way in to heaven by converting a set number of people.

I think due to the high number of church members here we rarely get any other sect visiting.

My "funny"

At moms we used to get a lot of them when I was a teen, my best friend and I were trying to get the wood stove started. We were not having any luck because we were all out of paper to use as kindling. Just then a knock at the door.... Ladies with lots of fine pamphlets, I listened nicely as they talked and asked for more leaflets and fliers etc. They thought they had a hot prospect...As soon as I had a handful I turned and yelled to my friend, Hey we got kindling now! That was the last visit we had... (I was a bad teen that day)

But I do believe it...and feel sorry for those who don't even try to understand it

Breaks my heart to hear people so opposed.

Well, yes, I reckon people should at least give things a chance, hear them out. Who knows, something you hear might start you thinking.

For countless thousands, earth wide this very thing has happened. There are over 7 million witnesses worldwide now with preaching in 235 lands. The part I think is so cool....it's all done by donations...the whole world wide religion is run on donations. There is no "set amount" or percentage for everyone to pay...that tells me something right there.

I think it's illegal in China.

China's government censors everything. I feel a little sorry for the people there, not even allowed to google the word for 'river' after some recent fiasco.
