I thought this was.
I don't watch football, that is pretty obvious. ;)

Chickassan, that first picture IS a football hold!

(Ok, a loose one. But still a football hold.)

A football hold is where one arm wraps around and just under the bird with one end tucked into the elbow and the hand wrapped up around the other end leaving the other arm free. This incidentally presses one wing to the body and the other to the arm (though less securely, sometimes you get a stray wing).
It keeps awkwardly shaped oblong objects secure even when moving long distances at speed.

LOL all I can find when I google football hold is nursing pictures. I found football pictures under football hold football though. XD But actually they're pretty good. So I'll show both.

It might be what one called "football". So they don't freaque at not being either flying or standing, I hold them against me so their feet can grab my shirt.
Keeping the wings secure usually stops them from struggling.
I don't let their feet grab on to anything as it can make them think they can gain purchase for escape.

I think my style is sort of a combo. I lack strength in my hands, arthritis, so I hold them showmanship style, but bring them in close and hold across my body. I'm thankful someome showed me the showmanship style, it seems to make my chickens feel more secure and I have more control that way.

Lol! Autocorrect tries to change treats to teats too much for the last example not to crack me up. 🤭

I use "showman" or normal on all my birds except Ruger, he is too large for both so I "football" him. With any hold I always try to maintain if possible one hand gently on the bird's back while the other has the legs, usually my left hand. My Browns especially do great with this and almost always go into the "submissive" position when they feel my hand go on the back first.
