How do you keep chickens cool in the heat?

Mine just chill in the shade through the heat of the day then peck around after the sun starts going to into the western sky.

I try to give them solutions to cool down, but they prefer the shade of the trees.

The biggie is plenty of shade and clean fresh water ......

A wet area for them to sit on and you could go to the local seconded hand store a get a blanket and put it on the ground where they like to sit around and get the blanket daily for them to sit on .........

I wet down the run every hour, it dries up pretty fast. They do like to come in and sit in it.

On of the key things I learned some 10 years when I moved to the desert was that wet feed really lowers the chances of dehydration hence the animal feels much better and uses less of the body's moister in the digestion process of the feed it consumes ......
