How do you keep nipples from leaking where they go in the pvc?

PVC pipe is much harder than a bucket, probably are stripping the threads when putting them into the pipe. The suggestion of using a Tap on the hole first sounds like a good idea.

I think the drill size I used was 11/32", it's an odd size that most small drill sets don't contain so you may need to buy one.

Are you threading the holes with a tap or just drilling the holes and letting the nipple do the threading?

If you're not threading the holes, you may want to. Those nipples are 1/8" tapered pipe threads. Get a tap and the right size drill bit and it'll seal much better.

I don't own any taps unfortunately.

The good news is that with the pvc cement I haven't had any leaks at all! :-)

I'm glad that the PVC cement is working.

Just for future reference. 1/8"-27 NPT tap takes an "R" size bit. Since that's hard to find and 11/32" bit will work fine. I know a lot of the websites say to just drill the hole and let the nipple/cup thread the hole, but you're much better off to actually thread the hole with a tap.

If you buy the press fit instead of the threaded, use whatever size recommended by the mfg.

I just installed the push in nipples and no leaks at all, they were very hard to push in, a little spit helped it, kinda surprised me when I showed them water coming out they started pecking at them and seem to understand how they work. Got my fingers crossed.
