How do you slaughter your ducks?

Poor ducks I know how to do it! You dont! Ducks are so sweet! I love them I would never kill my ducks or chickens but mine are pets!
Sometimes it's the humane thing to do and every bird keeper should know how to do it in case they are in that position rather than letting them suffer. Even if they are a pet, in many places there are no vets who treat poultry so it's diy or nothing.

So you keep them for meat or as pets?

I keep mine as pets but I respect those who don't. For some people they're food and for some they are pets. What I think matters is If they were culled quickly and with respect

I have to cull my first ducks this week and have 0 experience with slaughtering any kind of animal.

I've been reading up and watching videos with regards to how to best slaughter ducks, and most seem to recommend coning. I'm however pretty worried that I somehow mess up and he doesn't die as I have no experience with how and where to slice, so it seems easier to just cut the head off at once.

Any advice on how to do it the first time? I want to make sure it goes smoothly, especially with my SO still not being entirely comfortable with the idea, is just beheading the easiest way to go or are there any downsides to it that I might be missing?

Thanks!
The one thing no one really told me: When the bird is upside down, part the feathers to target the skin, DONT try to cut through the feathers or the first time you cut you'll find yourself hacksawing away and probably starting to panic. Use a SHARP knife, or better yet, a brand new razor blade. They make razors that can be put into a knife handle, so it looks and feels like using a knife, but you replace the razor. I used one the last time I processed and it was much better than my freshly sharpened filet knife. Personally, I couldn't swing an ax well enough to aim true, but once the knife goes into the neck, you'll feel how easy it would be to cut all the way through, should you choose to do so.
