How do you tell a single from rose comb on a day-old chick?

I found the information at one time, and now I can't remember where I found it. I *think* I remember reading that a single comb will have slight but distinct bumps vs the general overall bumpiness of the whole comb area?

Can you even tell on day-old chicks?

the single comb will have the bumps, a rose or pea comb should be flat

If you look closely you will see the points that are on a single comb. On a rose there will just be a flat space there looking like theirs no comb at all.
