But all in all I am quite happy with my purchase, I've been looking for black Ameraucanas...but no one normally wants to part with their blacks (I don't blame them). I shall post pics when the hatchlings arrive!!

I'm so excited!!

Did anyone answer this question the OP asked?

I've heard that the darker the EE the more likely their eggs are to be blue. Is there any truth to that?

I'm curious about that - am thinking of getting another EE just for the pretty eggs.

My EE is dark:

And she lays a pretty green egg:

Go ahead and give me a dunce hat because the EE vs Ameraucana thing has always confused me too. Last April I bought an interesting looking chick from the feed store and was of course told she was an Ameraucana, from Ideal Hatchery. After researching on BYC I was educated that she was an EE. What confuses me is that she looks EXACTLY like the Silver Ameraucana hen pictured at http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html. To the feather. Is this a fluke? She does NOT lay green eggs but rather a light tan, cream color. Just wondering.
