How does a first timer build confidence before processing?

A chicken processing party is the best place to start. I bet you'll not be nervous anymore once you're there. Be sure to tell us how it went. Good luck!

I think "dissection" not "killing" get a good butchering chart, and break it down that way. Helps that I'm a low-fuss sort of girl.

This is why I'm glad for growing up a farmer.
Cutting up deer, cattle, hogs, chickens and ect was just part of life like cutting the grass... I also helped birth livestock.

I don't take joy in it. It's just work. It's helped me in life as well.
I can fire someone or say "no" with out feeling bad becouse it's not personal... It's just time to do what needs done.

Here is the first rule. The farmer
is obligated to take care of that animal until the animal is going to take care of him/her.

second, be thankful for the food on your table.

My wife's boss took 2 weeks off to get over the death of a dog.

I don't understand why anyone would get an animal... farm or pet...and not understand that after the joy of it all, they will burry, kill or part with that animal.

Sure, you can cry when Ol' Yeller dies, but I think the further we get from the reality of Life and Death...and life FROM Death... the more skeewwwed our views are in this world.
