Good to know. I let 5 broodies set last summer thinking a lot of the babies would get predatored. They mostly survived, so now I'm getting over a doz. eggs a day. Too many for me and my 3 customer friends. I shouldn't compain. I'm going to try freezing some but I had forgotten reading about the oil. I give a lot away to tenants and feed older eggs back to chickens, but a sack of feed a week makes for expensive philanthropic pets.I wash my eggs and refrigerate them. To make them last even longer I learned from a friend to lightly oil them with mineral oil. This replaces the protective bloom that was washed away and prevents air getting in through the porous shell. I've had them at least 6 months if not longer.
