How far can I trim my quail'sbeak?

My quailhas been staying inside her hutch all the time, but she ws still moving around fine - I checked her out,and her beak seems to need trimming. I hope that's why she's acting strange. Anway, can I take a pair of nail clippers and just cut a VERY tiny bit off?

In theory, I would think so, but it would depend on many other things.
*If she hasn't been eating, and her beak is long, maybe she isn't getting enough grit in her crop and food isn't digesting properly.
*Is she sitting on eggs? She might just be broody.


I'm sure there are other things that it might be, but I'm not too familiar with quail. Perhaps other people might be of more assistance.
