I had lined up some local Quail eggs and the deal fell through. I know that the closer the eggs are the better but whats the farthest anyone has had eggs shipped and hatched successfully?

I am in NY as well. I'm doing chickens for the first time. I plan on doing quail next! I had eggs shipped from Georgia. They arrived safely and I followed the procedures for shipped eggs. I'm on day 5 and all the air cells look good. Except one seemed a little funny shaped. I'll recheck in a couple days. I'll let you know how they hatch out. I actually found a thread on the place I had the eggs shipped from before I ordered and everyone was saying how good they ship fresh hatching eggs. And then I found another site that people were talking about how good they hatch the shipped eggs from the seller. Maybe you can do a goggle search on where you plan to order from and find out how their reputation is?

This is my second batch of eggs from Meyers Hatchery-- my first was 100% fail--I think it was way too cold to ship them. Meyers replaced my eggs at no charge--- great people there! they don"t guarantee their eggs, but were so understanding. SO this is my first (second time around) batch in the incubator in my classroom.
