Every situation is different, so it could work out very well for you, especially since you are aware of any problems you might encounter. I say give it a go. I like my buff laced, they have been terrific layers too, they are some of my best.

I have buff laced now too! I raised them with my speckled sussex and only had one get pecked a bit on the crest but no blood. I had planned to subdivide the coop any way so now they are separate. I raised Polish in TN and they were great layers and their eggs were large. Here are some pictures of the ones i had in TN.Every situation is different, so it could work out very well for you, especially since you are aware of any problems you might encounter. Thanks so much! Now, since you said that, I might not get them. I was looking at Speckled Sussex and thought they looked like great birds. Thanks again!
You don't really have to worry about the heat but they don't do as well in the cold. I am from Oklahoma and I have my Polish chickens in their own coop and run as they will definitely be picked on by non crested birds. They are very sweet and if you get chicks hold them and imprint on them from a young age. They are a bit of a diva but I love my Polish. They don't lay as much as my non crested chickens but, I love them. Mine love to be held and petted. If you decide to get some I would Def. Suggest a separate living area and run.Hi! I planning on getting a couple polishes in the spring or summer. I was wondering how hardy these chickens are. I live in north Georgia; we barely get any snow, just a couple of inches. I'm not really worrying about the cold because I've been reading up about it and everyone says they do good in cold but, I couldn't find anything about heat. Our summers can get intense. I do believe it got up in the 100s a few years ago. Are these chickens heat tolerant? If they aren't are there ways to help keep them cool or would it be best to just not get any. Thanks!![]()
