How hot is too hot for quail?

I have my quail in the garage, wife wants them in the barn, we live in Texas, it gets hot, we have jumbo quail and just wondering if they will be ok in the barn where it is hotter than in the garage. I tried to search temperature tolerances, but couldn't find anything

I have 10 that are 4 or 5 months old, using as breeders, 7 that are about 3 weeks old and 11 that are less than a week old

How hot depends on the quail. You need to watch them. If they are panting, it's too hot. Make sure they have plenty of water, and I give mine bottles of ice to lean against when it gets into the 90s.

Hello fellow Texan! I have my first round of quail that I plan to put outside soon so I cannot speak from experience, however, I do have some plans to try and keep them coolish. I purchased self filling water cups from rent-a-coop which are big enough to put an ice cube in, and then I plan on having a fan run on one part of their cage 24/7. I read on here once that someone had a fan blowing into their cage to keep their quail cool and they liked it. I'll see if mine feel the same way.
I spoke to the breeder I got the eggs from, she used to live in my city and said they should not have a problem so long as they are constantly in the shade. For reference, heat index here during summer is normally between 115°F-120°F, night time temp (no heat index) is normally mid 80's.

I just bought some of those same cups and literally installed them today, I wonder how the ice will work, it will be heavy and thus cut off the water supply, but I am sure it will melt quickly.

I do have a fan on my adults that I turn on during the day when it gets hot in the garage, they seem to like it, but I know it is hotter in the barn (don't have a thermostat in there, but maybe should). I figure the babies will be fine as I have heat lamps on them anyways, lol

I bought a cheap thermostat, not sure how accurate it is, I put in the garage where I have them, it registered 92 degrees, I moved it to the barn and it registered 104 degrees; temps might be off, but I bet the barn is roughly 10-12 degrees hotter at the moment, I could put a fan on them.

The breeders are in a wynola ranch cage, so wide open a fan will help circulate air. The others are in basically water troughs that are I think 2X2X4 so air might move over them? Not sure

I’m also in Texas. A quail owner told me that quails will be ok up to 120 degrees as long as you give them plenty of water and enough space. Also you can use ice bottle to cool down their area. I put an ice block in a plastic bag and hang it next to each of my small cage.

Will a fan really work? My quail don't like it when the wind blows on them, but they pant so much here even though it's usually 78-89 degrees. Maybe it's because I have them on my balcony and it's only open in the front and covered on 3 sides?
