I bought two dozen turkey eggs this morning. I have never hatched them, chickens yes. they are Bourbon reds, royal palms and slates. the breeder had several adult pairs at the swap they looked like nice healthy birds. we'll see how this goes.

We're getting great hatchouts here at the farm and fabulous reports of hatches when we mailed! It's so exciting to see those little googly eyes out of the incubator. We love all our birds but those little turkeys have our hearts. We had a farm tour on Saturday and I think all of the visitors "talked" with the turkeys,,,, I wish I had even one of those interactions on video.......I think that it's a rare opportunity for persons to see turkeys on a farm......They kept a very long distance away and we practiced foot wash and other measures .... for the safety of the animals.

So we've been hatching and mailing and having pickups of the eggs and poults of royal palms, the bourbons, the jersey buffs and the bronze. Statistically we range between 95% and 97% at the farm. So we're happy!

Have had a few 100%....Biggest problem has been keeping that humidity up as we've had some dry weeks for southern weather...

If you have good luck with chickens your turkeys will do fine. I never hatched any out before either and the 4 that went into lock down hatched nothing special on my humidity but they did hatch sooner than I thought. I set them @ 2pm 3/23 and they started hatching 4/21@ 8pm done by 4/22. I already really like mine pretty busy poults had no problems with figuring out water and food either but they do have chicks in with them. Right now they are playing keep away with the shavings very entertaining.

I absolutely LOVE your dog Ozark!!! She's a real beauty.

Thank you, so far we just love her. she goes into the coop with me when I do chores and doesn't show any interest in the poultry...as far as being a "treat" She helped me put up the adult turkeys tonight, hope it wasn't a fluke as she did an excellent job helping me guide them to their pen.
Thanks Steve, I put the goslings in a different brooder box and a mirror and stuffed animal in with the lone turkey. It will be almost two weeks more before I have any chicks so I hope this little one makes it.
