How is your flock today?

@BlueBaby When I candled all 26 eggs before lockdown and picked out the eggs that I couldn't see all the way through. I went through them pretty quickly so those 5 eggs may have been bad to start with and I didn't catch them.

When they started to hatch all 10 hatched pretty much all together and I didn't have any late ones, so that makes me kind of think those last 5 eggs could have been bad and I didn't know that and still locked them down.

I have a bit of a hard time holding those small eggs and trying to candle them without dropping them. I think the 360 has the light on it for candling, so that should help.

All in all this time around with that old machine went a lot smoother then the first time. I am very happy with the 10 little healthy babies. :love
I have a 360, the light is ok for white eggs, but it was not so good on the green duck eggs. Any darker color than that I would want a bigger & brighter light. This is a white duck egg after 10 days.

Hopefully 5 of those 10 will end up being pullet's for you to add to your flock.

That is good to know, Thank you. I used a small 310 Lumens head lamp and that seemed to be bright enough for the dark eggs. My problem was trying to hold onto the small little eggs without dropping them as I was trying to candle them. I thought maybe the 360 would be easier to work with?

It is easy to put the egg on the attached light. You still have to hold it and not drop it! Big duck eggs are easy to hold. I would rather hatch a large egg, to grow up into a hen that will lay large eggs!
