How is your flock today?

yeah I hope our missing ones have just moved on, but idk. I know they range outside our property so who knows.

Hopefully all is ok and she brings home some little ones for you.

my flock is probably cranky. this week I sold 13 pullets & have had the other girls mostly penned up to get them laying in the nesting boxes again.

I'm considering locking up my big boy and his ladies because I know I don't know where they all lay lol. but hes been free range for eons and I feel bad.

Hello everyone my flock today is fine but I caught my rooster trying to mate w my 3 month old hen. Is that normal I don't think so

peafowl actually have a breeding season and don't lay all year like chickens do. we lost 3 hens last year - 2 confirmed dead, one we just never saw again. so now we have 2 hens, 4 2-year-old boys, 2 3-year+ boys, one juvenile male and one juvenile female. so our ratios are pretty off.

the two hens we have still never nested last year. I had to buy peachicks. lol.

@jwehl once we find a little larger piece of property I would love to add some Guineas to our mix. Peacocks would be super cool as they are a very beautiful bird. How are they in the cooler weather?

I live in Georgia so I have no idea on that.
I hear guineas are more annoying than peafowl haha.
