How is your flock today?

A good sense of humor is so rare to find these day's. I just got back from next door checking on their animal's for them since it's so hot now. I made sure that the waterers were all topped off. He can feed them when he gets home from work. She's supposed to come home from Florida on Tuesday the 15th.

My flock is doing ok, including the 5 little one's in the grow-out pen. All 3 of the waterer's are full (plus 2 more bowl's of water for the rooster and the chick's), and the 2 wading tub's have water for them to stand in also. I'll be taking some ice out there to drop into the waterer's for them soon. I put the rooster in his own pen to give the girl's a break from his affection's in this heat.

If you get a bunch of rain over your way, don't forget to send some of it over here to me.
It's so funny you say that about humor, I so can agree, too many sticks in the mud in this crazy world these days.

Life throws me lemons.....And I make lemonade and chase it with a little 1800 and a shot of salt! LMAO That is how this Old Country Boy Survives! I think there is a song about me some place! LOL I have yet to hear this song...... Pull up those Old Boot Stapes and trudge on! LOL Maybe Kid Rock will consider it the next time I see him! :gig

You have crazy heat and we have crazy humidity..... trade you! LOL Yes I to have been changing out the water more often during the day. I like fresh water when it's super hot, so why wouldn't the animals ,,,,,,not?

Glad to hear your flock is doing ok, just curious now since I lost count, how many do you have in all with your project? Do you have anymore fertile eggs in the cooker?

All this rain these last few days have done nothing but delay my outdoor projects. The Ducks love it, but then again they are not responsible for having to making money to buy their feed either! LOL
With all thus wet weather again, I am wearing the tread off my new Muck boots! :barnie On a good note, I did get all those nasty mud holes filled in, so it's not so bad.:clap :)

My flock is smaller then it was 2 month's ago. I rehomed the 7 Silver Grey Dorking's, and the 4 NN hen's with the darker colored leg's. @Geckolady has 2 of the Dorking's now, and just gave the broody one some egg's to hatch.

I have my NN Aloha rooster penned up to give the remaining girl's a breeding break from him with this heat that we are having. Besides the rooster, are now 5 Aloha girl's, 2 NN Aloha girl's, and 1 lighter red NN girl that are breeding age (8 girl's total). Then I have 5 chick's in the grow-out pen, and 2 more younger one's in the brooder. No egg's in the incubator, and the girl's are on vacation from the rooster until towards fall when it start's getting cooler.

@BlueBaby ok, you have so much going on, I just was trying to keep it all straight for you, in case you had any questions! :gig Just curious, are you going to keep your old incubator or go for a new 360 model? I am getting close and this next week should be exciting if all don't go South on me! :barnie

I think that I want to try out that 360 one when I do a hatch towards fall. What day is your hatch on now?

@BlueBaby Chewy has been minding himself these last few days, but then again I have always had something in my hand! LOL

I really don't want to cull him because he is really good with his girls, maybe more room is the answer, I don't know?

He probably think's that you are in competition for his girl's.

My girls at first before he was old enough for them to recognize him as the Rooster. The 4 girls still jump up at me when I walk in the coop with a food dish and maybe , he don't like that? So he thinks he needs to be aggressive?

Maybe it's my charming personality he don't like? :gig

@BlueBaby The calendar says day 16. since I have had my temp more days on 98F temp then 99F-100F, I was thinking of giving them one extra day before lock down....... What's your thoughts on me doing that?

You could probably candle them now and mark those air-cell's with a pencil. Take the egg turner out and lay the egg's on their sides with the larger side of the air-cell facing upwards. Don't raise the humidity in there yet until it's time to do so.
