How is your flock today?

One of my girls goes broody and means it. Nobody has gone broody yet
As my incubator Coach @BlueBaby would suggest in a situation like this, LOL how about learning how to incubate a few of your own fertile eggs? :gig

I still have all of Chewys young cockerels still running around and surprisingly they are all very docile so far compared to how Chewy was. I am guessing maybe Chewys mean streak was breed out of them? LOL  I guess time will tell. :)

I rehomed 3 more Naked Neck hen's today, so they moved next door to me at the neighbors.
She told me she went through 20 egg's earlier today making all of her Christmas cookies for her family member's. She has 12 naked Neck hen's now, and they all came from my flock. I think that she will have enough egg's now, but one of the new one's she wanted went broody this past summer. :gig

That would involve buying an incubator. I hadn't planned on doing it that way, partly because I'm afraid I'd get addicted to hatching more. And more. And more...

Count yourself lucky then that you don't live near me because I have a couple of extra incubator's now that I could sell to you. ;)

I am thinking of making a deal with my neighbor. She has 35 (!) chickens, and has won the chicken lottery by getting ALL pullets, even the 3 straight run! So maybe one of hers goes broody, and I give her some fertile eggs.

Her 3 boys get to learn a life lesson. She gets some chicks. I might get some chicks from my chickens. I haven't made this offer yet. She actually wanted to get a cockerel, so :idunno

The only problem is, none of my mixes would be sex-linked for colors.

I want cute girl chicks. There, I said it! Sexist, but it's true!

That's why I'm mostly getting away from having a mixed flock, and going with the Bielefelder's as they are sexable at hatch.
