How late did anyone's chickens start laying?

I've read some people are still waiting at age 26-30 wks. Does it depend on the breed?

Do you know what breeds are late. I have the usual run, BR, Australoup, Orphington Welsummer

Oh they are all the same age. Give a day or two.

I have heard that the Orpingtons can be slow to come into lay for the first time.

Mine weren't too bad - they first laid around the 22-24 week mark - but I've heard of some people waiting 30+ weeks for an Orpie's first egg.

I guess they do it when 'they're ready.'

That doesn't make the wait any easier, I know!

I have orpingtons they are 19 weeks old now. im just waiting

My Silkies usually take anywhere from 8 months to a year to give up their first egg! If I see one before then, its a very happy day for me
